The annual Food Drive is back!
CINCINNATI - St. Vincent de Paul, Xavier University and Kroger are again partnering on efforts to alleviate hunger in Cincinnati. Xavier Athletics will host a food drive prior to the men's basketball game against Seton Hall on Tuesday, December 20. Doors open at 7 p.m. for the 8:30 p.m. tip-off. Food collected is donated to St. Vincent de Paul to assist neighbors in need throughout Hamilton County.Â
Fans are encouraged to bring their food donations on Tuesday, Dec. 20 prior to the game. As a thank you for donating, fans will receive a special ticket offer for the men's basketball game against UConn, along with two free tickets to any women's basketball game this season.
"Hunger does not take a break during the holiday season," said Jenifer Moore, corporate affairs manager, Cincinnati-Dayton division of Kroger. "We are proud to continue our support of partners such as St. Vincent de Paul who are working tirelessly to ensure our neighbors have access to healthy foods and services."
Â
This year, Xavier fans are encouraged to once again support the food drive and donate. Suggested items are peanut butter, pasta, rice, macaroni and cheese, cereal, boxed potatoes, jelly, canned goods such as soup, tuna, vegetable, fruit and ravioli.Â
Â
"This partnership with Kroger and Xavier helps ensure the shelves at our Becky & Ted Catino Choice Food Pantry are stocked during the holiday season," says Kristen Gallagher, Marketing & Communications Manager for St. Vincent de Paul – Cincinnati. "We are grateful for the generosity shown by Xavier fans each year, helping us feed hungry neighbors at Christmas and throughout the year."
