Grace Beshlian Named Women's Lacrosse Assistant Coach

She joins the Musketeers after spending the 2021 season at William and Mary
CINCINNATI - Xavier head women's lacrosse coach Meg Decker has announced the hiring of Grace Beshlian as assistant coach. She join the program after her time as a successful assistant coach at William and Mary.

"Grace is the right piece to the puzzle for us here at Xavier," said Decker. "As we launch our program in the BIG EAST, her conference experience as a player and a student-assistant coach will be an asset. Positionally, Grace has made historic waves coaching successful defensive units in the BIG EAST and the CAA. She has experience mentoring young teams as a captain and as a coach; both experiences adding to the resource she will be for our student-athletes.
"Grace has continued her education and proven herself a committed learner; a key life skill of a leader. Beyond the field, Grace is an enthusiastic individual that places priority on human connection, has a great sense of humor, and a love of the outdoors. I am looking forward to having her on the sidelines and as a member of our Xavier community."

This past season with the Tribe, she helped coach five players to All-Colonial Athletic Association honors – including three All-Rookie Team selections. William and Mary also led the CAA in ground balls per game (20.12), caused turnovers per game (9.12) and saves per game (10.69). The Tribe's ground balls average ranked seventh nationally.

Prior to William and Mary, Beshlian served as a student assistant coach at UConn in 2021 following her standout playing career for the Huskies from 2016-20.

In 2021, the Huskies matched the program record for wins (12) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in program history. The squad set four team statistical records and finished the year ranked 21st in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaching Association (IWLCA) Poll.Â

Beshlian also helped coach a program-best five players to IWLCA All-Region honors, including midfielder Sydney Watson who became the first player in program history to be selected to the IWLCA All-America First Team. Goalie Landyn White also finished the year ranked third in the NCAA in saves (167).

Beshlian was a two-time all-conference performer for the Huskies. The goalie finished her career ranked third in program history in career saves with 471.

The Wantagh, N.Y., native holds a bachelor's degree in special education (2020) and a master's degree in educational psychology (2021) from UConn.
