Xavier Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule

Musketeers set to face 23 teams, including nine NCAA participants from 2023
CINCINNATI – Xavier Baseball announced the 2024 schedule this week, with the Musketeers set to face 23 teams from 10 different conferences this season.
Xavier's season gets underway on Friday, Feb. 16 at Clemson. The Musketeers open the home portion of the schedule on Wednesday, Feb. 28, hosting Cincinnati at Hayden Field.
 
Among the teams Xavier is scheduled to face are nine programs that played in the 2023 NCAA Tournament, including four teams that advanced to the Super Regionals and a pair of teams that competed in the College World Series.
The 2024 BIG EAST Tournament, Presented by Jeep, returns to Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio this season, with Xavier serving as co-host four the four-team tournament that runs from May 22-25, 2024.
Xavier is coming off a 2023 season where the Musketeers won the program's fourth BIG EAST Championship and made the program's fifth NCAA appearance.
 
The Musketeers took part in the 2023 Nashville Regional, advancing to the Regional Finals, before wrapping up the season at 39-25, tying the school record for wins.

- The Tigers won the league tournament and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with four-straight wins in the championship.
- The Tigers hosted an NCAA Regional, picking up wins over Miami and Lipscomb before falling to Tennessee and Charlotte.
- Xavier is 1-0 all-time against the Tigers, taking a 6-4 win in the 2014 NCAA Nashville Regional in the lone match-up in the series.

Louisville, Ky.
- The Cardinals went 31-24 last season, with a 10-20 record in ACC play.
- Xavier is 18-39 all-time against Louisville, falling 12-8 in Louisville last season.
Feb. 23-25 – 3 Games
Nashville, Tenn.
- Lipscomb went 36-26 overall last season with a 23-7 mark in ASUN play to earn the league's top seed.
- After opening the ASUN Tournament with a pair of losses, the Bison won three-straight to claim the league tournament title and the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- LU went to the Clemson Regional, falling to the host Tigers and Charlotte.
- Xavier is 4-8 all-time against Lipscomb, last facing the Bison in 2019 when the Musketeers swept a three-game series in Nashville.
Feb. 28/April 2/April 17 – 3 Games
Hayden Field/Prasco Park/Cincinnati
- Cincinnati comes to Hayden Field to open the home schedule for the Musketeers on Feb. 28. The two teams will meet at Prasco Park in the Joe Nuxhall Classic on April 2 and then wrap up the season series on April 17 at Cincinnati.
- The Bearcats went 24-33 overall last season, with a 10-14 in UC's final season in the American Athletic Conference before joining the Big 12.
- Xavier is 51-72 all-time against the Bearcats, going 0-2 against UC last season in a pair of midweek match-ups.
March 1-3 – 3 Games
Ft. Myers, Fla.
- FGCU went 42-18 overall last season, posting a 20-10 record in ASUN play to earn the two-seed in the league tournament.
- The Eagles went 4-0 to open the ASUN Tournament to advance to the Championship, falling to the top-seed Lipscomb.
- This will be the first match-up between the two programs.
March 5-6 – 2 Games
Ruston, La.
- The Bulldogs went 28-31 overall last season with a 15-15 record in Conference USA play.
- La Tech picked up a win over Charlotte in the opening game of the CUSA Baseball Championship before falling to MTSU and Charlotte to wrap up the season.
- This will be the first match-up between the two programs.
March 8-10 – 3 Games
Baton Rouge, La.
- The Tigers posted a 54-17 record last season, going 19-10 in SEC play.
- LSU was the No. 5 national seed in the NCAA Tournament, going 3-0 in the Baton Rouge Regional and sweeping Kentucky in the Baton Rouge Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.
- In the CWS, the Tigers took a win over Tennessee and fell to Wake Forest in the opening games. LSU won three-straight, with one win over Tennessee and two wins over Wake Forest, to advance to the best-of-three Championship series.
- The Tigers took a win over Florida in game one of the championship series and fell in game two before winning game three to secure the 2023 National Championship.
- This will be the first match-up between the two programs.
March 12/March 26
Fairborn, Ohio/Hayden Field
- Wright State will host Xavier on March 12 in Fairborn, Ohio, before the Raiders make the return trip to Hayden Field on March 16. The two teams could also potentially face off in the Joe Nuxhall Classic on April 9 at Prasco Park.
- The Raiders went 39-23 last season with a 22-8 record in Horizon League play.
- WSU won the 2023 Horizon League Tournament, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- Wright State was selected to the NCAA Terre Haute Regional, falling to hosts Indiana State and North Carolina.
- Xavier is 34-39 all-time against the Raiders after going 2-0 against Wright State last year, picking up a 16-8 win at WSU and a 6-2 win in the Joe Nuxhall Classic Championship.
March 15-17 – 3 Games

- The Sycamores went 45-17 overall in 2023, with a 24-3 record in Missouri Valley Conference play.
- ISU won four out of five games in the MVC Tournament, winning the league title and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
- The Sycamores were selected as Regional Hosts, picking up wins over Wright State and Iowa to advance to the Fort Worth Super Regional.
- In the Super Regional, Indiana State was eliminated by hosts TCU.
- This will be the first match-up between the two programs.
March 19 – 1 Game
Knoxville, Tenn.
- Tennessee finished 2023 at 44-22 overall and 16-14 in SEC play.
- The Volunteers earned an at-large NCAA bid, going to the Clemson Super Regional where UT picked up wins over Charlotte and Clemson to advance to the Regional Final, then topped Charlotte in the Regional Final to go to the Super Regional in Hattiesburg, Miss.
- Tennessee picked up back-to-back wins over Southern Miss in the Super Regional to advance to the College World Series.
- The Vols fell to LSU in the opening game of the CWS, and picked up a win over Stanford, before being eliminated by LSU.
- The Musketeers are 0-4 all-time against the Volunteers, last playing in 2022.
March 22-24 – 3 Games

- VCU went 25-30 overall in 2023, with a 11-13 record in Atlantic 10 play.
- This will be the first match-up between the two programs.

- BGSU went 20-30 overall with a 13-17 record in MAC play last season.
- Xavier is 9-13 all-time against the Falcons, last facing BGSU in 2014, a 7-0 win for the Musketeers.

- The four-team Joe Nuxhall Classic features Cincinnati, Wright State and Miami.
- Xavier opens play with UC, set for April 2 at Prasco Park in Mason, Ohio.
- The Musketeers will return to Prasco Park on April 9 to face either Wright State or Miami (Ohio), depending on outcomes form the April 2 games.
- Xavier has won the last two Joe Nuxhall Classics, securing last season's title with 16-2 win over Miami and a 6-2 win over Wright State.
April 5-7 – 3 Games
Storrs, Conn.
- The Huskies went 44-17 overall last season and 15-5 in BIG EAST play, earning the No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship.
- UConn picked up a win over Georgetown in the opening game of the tournament before falling to Xavier to move into the Elimination Bracket. The Huskies topped the Hoyas to move on to the Championship Series, picking up a win over Xavier in game one before falling to the Musketeers in the deciding second game of the series to finish runners-up.
- Connecticut earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship, playing in the Gainesville Regional. UConn fell to Texas Tech and picked up a win over Florida A&M before being eliminated by hosts Florida.
- Xavier is 7-11 all-time against the Huskies, going 3-3 against UConn last season, including posting a 2-1 mark in the BIG EAST Tournament on the way to the conference title.
April 12-14 – 3 Games

- Creighton went 25-14 overall last season with a 10-11 record in BIG EAST play to finish fifth in the standings.
- Xavier is 19-18 against the Bluejays all-time after going 3-0 in the 2023 series in Omaha.
April 19-21 – 3 Games
South Orange, N.J.
- Seton Hall went 31-24 overall last season, with a 13-8 BIG EAST record to finish third in the league standings and earn a spot in the conference tournament.
- The Pirates fell to Xavier in the opening game of the league tournament and were eliminated by Georgetown to wrap up the season.
- Xavier is 15-17 all-time against the Pirates after going 2-2 against SHU last season, including picking up a 6-5 win in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
April 23/May 8 – 2 Games
Hayden Field/Oxford, Ohio
- Xavier will host Miami on April 23 before traveling to Oxford for the return game on May 8. The two teams could potentially meet on April 9 in the Joe Nuxhall Classic at Prasco Park.
- Miami went 21-35 overall with a 13-17 record in MAC play in 2023.
- Xavier is 32-45-1 all-time against Miami after taking a 16-2 win last season in the opening game of the Joe Nuxhall Classic.
April 24 – 1 Game
Hayden Field
- Northern Kentucky went 30-27 overall and 17-13 in Horizon League play, earning the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
- NKU took a win over Purdue Fort Wayne to open the conference tournament before falling to Oakland and Milwaukee to close out the season.
- Xavier is 38-20-1 against the Norse after taking a 5-3 win in last season's match-up at NKU.
April 26-18 – 3 Games
Hayden Field
- St. John's went 28-25 overall in 2023, with an 8-12 record in BIG EAST play, finishing sixth in the league standings.
- Xavier is 17-16 all-time against the Red Storm after going 2-1 in last season's series in New York.
May 3-5 – 3 Games
Indianapolis
- Butler went 12-43 overall last season with a 5-16 record in BIG EAST action, finishing eighth in the BIG EAST.
- Xavier is 68-34 all-time against the Bulldogs after sweeping the three-game series in Cincinnati last season.

Hayden Field
- Kentucky went 40-21 overall last season with a 16-14 record in SEC play.
- The Wildcats earned an at-large bid and hosted a Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
- In the Regional, UK opened play with a win over Ball State and a loss to Indiana before picking up a win over West Virginia to move on to the Regional Championship.
- Kentucky picked up back-to-back wins over IU to advance to the Baton Rouge Super Regional where the Wildcats were swept by LSU.
- Xavier is 2-30 all-time against the Wildcats, falling 13-2 in last season's match-up.
May 10-12 – 3 Games
Washington, D.C.
- The Hoyas went 30-27 overall in 2023, posting a 10-10 record in BIG EAST play to finish fourth in the conference standings an earn a spot in the league tournament.
- Georgetown fell to top seeded UConn in the opening game of the tournament before taking a win over Seton Hall in the elimination bracket. The Hoyas were eliminated by UConn to wrap up the season.
- Xavier is 20-10 all-time against the Hoyas after going 1-2 in the series last season in Cincinnati.

- Oklahoma went 32-28 overall last season with an 11-13 record in Big 12 play.
- The Sooners opened up play in the Big 12 Tournament with a win over Oklahoma State before falling to Texas Tech and being eliminated by OSU.
- OU earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, going to the Charlottesville Regional. The Sooners fell to East Carolina in the opening game and picked up a win over Army in the elimination bracket before being eliminated by ECU.
- Xavier is 1-1 all-time against the Sooners after facing OU in the 2017 NCAA Louisville Regional, with Xavier taking an 11-0 win to advance to the Regional Final

- Villanova went 14-37 overall last season with a 7-13 record in BIG EAST play to finish seventh in the league standings.
- Xavier is 18-9 all-time against the Wildcats after sweeping the three-game series last season at Villanova.
