Five Musketeers Recognized at Xavier's Academic Honors Celebration

CINCINNATI - Five Musketeers were recognized on Friday, May 12 at Xavier's Academic Honors Celebration in Cintas Center.

The ceremony recognized outstanding students across the university's four colleges: College of Arts and Sciences, College of Nursing, College of Professional Sciences and the Williams College of Business.

ATHLETICS AWARD WINNERS

Jonathan Bernard (swimming) - V.J. Bieliauskas Psychology Award
Parker Hopkins (cross country/track and field) - Jack Richardson Criminal Justice Award
Haley Morgan (cross country/track and field) - The Lawrence J. Flynn, S.J., Award
Gus Nations (cross country/track and field) - Philosophy, Politics, and the Public Honors
Alysaa Overbeck (volleyball) - William V. Masterson Memorial Scholarship

AWARD DESCRIPTIONS

V.J. Bieliauskas Psychology Award
The Bieliauskas Psychology Award is presented to a psychology student for outstanding academic achievement. It honors the legacy of Dr. Vytautas J. Bieliauskas, who served the department as a faculty member for 30 years, was Chair of the department for over 20 years, and was instrumental in forming the character of what is now the School of Psychology.

Jack Richardson Criminal Justice Award
Awarded to the student completing the criminal justice major with highest distinction.

The Lawrence J. Flynn, S.J., Award
Presented to students completing the communications major with the highest academic distinction.

William V. Masterson Memorial Scholarship
In memory of the late William V. Masterson ('41) and granted to a student excelling in the study of marketing.
