Xavier placed sixth in the team standings with a 54-hole score of 850 (-2)

SAPPHIRE, N.C. - Carson Bellish led the Musketeers at the JT Poston Invitational, posting a runner-up finish on Tuesday afternoon.

The two-day tournament was hosted by Western Carolina at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley in Sapphire, N.C.

The second-place finish for Bellish is the highest finish of his career (previously placed fourth at the Daytona Beach Spring Invitational on March 7, 2023). The sophomore golfer now has six career top-15 finishes.

Bellish carded a 64 in his second round of golf on Monday, the fourth round carded at 64 in the tournament's 17-year history - matching Mercer's Tobias Jonsson (2021), Ryan Hall of South Carolina (2019) and Jamie Wilson of South Carolina (2019). It also ranks tied for fourth in school history and is the lowest score recorded by a Xavier player since 2017 (Garrett Wood carded a 65 at the Bearcat Invitational).

Xavier posted a 54-hole score of 850 (-2) at the JT Poston Invitational, finishing sixth in the team standings (out of 16 teams). It marks the first time since Feb. 26, 2018 that the Musketeers hit under par as a team. Xavier recorded a score of 863 (-1) at the Loyola (MD) Intercollegiate in Goodyear, Ariz.

Drexel won the JT Poston Invitational by six strokes, recording a score of 839 (-13). Elon placed second with a score of 845 (-7).

East Tennessee State's Remi Chartier took home medalist honors with score of 199 (-14). He tied the tournament record set by South Carolina's Ryan Hall at the event in 2019.
