The Xavier Invitational concluded with an impressive showing from both of Xavier University's teams, with Xavier [B] and Xavier [A] tying for first place at +15. The two Xavier squads battled throughout the competition, displaying consistent play across the three rounds.
1. Xavier [A]: +15 (winner in tiebreaker)
• Round 1: +7
• Round 2: +3
• Round 3: +5
2. Xavier [B] (B): +15
• Round 1: +8
• Round 2: +4
• Round 3: +3
Both Xavier teams demonstrated strong play, with Xavier [B] finishing with an exceptional third round at +3, securing their tie for the top spot.
Austin Peay State and Connecticut tied for third place at +21. Austin Peay had a solid opening two rounds, posting +5 and +1, but a difficult third round (+15) prevented them from challenging Xavier for the lead. Connecticut had an up-and-down performance, starting with a tough +17 in the first round, bouncing back with a stellar second round (-5), but finishing at +9 in the final round.
Kyle Smith of Xavier [B] had an outstanding tournament, finishing 2nd overall at -1. Smith's consistency was key, as he posted scores of E, +1, and -2 across the three rounds, demonstrating his ability to manage the course under pressure.
Ray Filter from Xavier [A] finished 3rd with a final score of +1. After a tough start with a +3 in the first round, Filter bounced back with an excellent -2 in the second and an even-par E in the final round.
Carson Bellish and AJ Wilhelm from Xavier [A] both ended tied for 7th and 10th respectively. Bellish finished with a total of +5, showing solid play with rounds of +3, +1, and +1. Wilhelm remained steady throughout the event, ending at +6 after a final round of E.
Kellen Dean of Xavier [A] tied for 10th with a final score of +6, with consistent scores of +1, +1, and +4.
Zach Burton from Xavier [B] finished tied for 16th at +7 after shooting rounds of +4, E, and +3.
Felix Levasseur of Xavier [B] also finished strong, tying for 17th at +8, including an excellent -1 in his final round after earlier rounds of +2 and +7.
Leo Walling from Xavier [B] placed 27th at +10, ending with rounds of +2, +1, and +7.
AJ Adams from Xavier [B] rounded out the top 50 for Xavier, finishing 41st at +14, with his best round coming in at +2 during the second round.
