11 programs post perfect 100% for cohort year
CINCINNATI -  Xavier Athletics posted a Graduate Success Ratings of 95 percent, as released by the NCAA this week. The GSR, which measures six-year graduation rates, utilized data for the 2014-15 to 2017-18 freshman cohorts for all NCAA Division I institutions
Of Xavier's 19 intercollegiate sports, 11 earned a perfect 100 percent GSR for the cohort year of 2017. Those teams include baseball, men's cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field, men's and women's golf, men's and women's soccer, women's swimming, women's tennis, and women's volleyball
Xavier's overall GSR of 95 percent marks the seventh-straight year that the department has posted a rating of 95 or above.
Â
This year's overall GSR data represents an aggregate average of the incoming classes from 2014-15, 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. The team scores reflect an aggregate average of that particular team's incoming students from the same time period.Â
The GSR was developed to provide graduation data of student-athletes who receive athletics aid at Division I institutions more accurately than the federal rates that had been calculated based solely on freshmen matriculation. It includes in its calculation students who transfer into institutions, and subtracts those who leave their institutions prior to graduation as long as they would have been academically eligible to compete had they remained. The GSR credits a school for students who graduate within six years of entering their institution. Â
