Handzel and Lannon Collect BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Morgan Handzel was named Freshman of the Week and Teegan Lannon was named Defensive Player of the Week
NEW YORK - Morgan Handzel and Teegan Lannon picked up Xavier's first weekly honors of the season after a 1-1 week at home. Lola Mancuso was also named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Draw specialist Morgan Handzel was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after helping lead the Musketeers in draw controls in both games last week.
The rookie had a record-breaking game in the win over Gardner-Webb on Thursday, breaking own single game draw control record with 15 to help lead Xavier to a 13-5 win in the home opener.
She also broke the single season draw control record in the win over GWU, just the sixth game of the season. Handzel is currently the all-time draw control leader with 67 on the season.
In the 14-12 loss to Wofford on Sunday, the Georgia native recorded another 11 draw controls, helping Xavier lead the Terriers in the category 20-10.
Goalkeeper Teegan Lannon was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week after picking up her first win of the season in the cage.
The sophomore maintained a .437 save percentage through both games last week, totaling 14 saves.
In the win over Gardner-Webb, Lannon only allowed a season-low five goals. She also recorded five saves to mark a season-high .500 save percentage.
The Pennsylvania native also had nine saves against Wofford on Sunday for a .409 save percentage.
Attacker Lola Mancuso earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for a stellar offensive performance in both games.
The junior scored six goals against Gardner-Webb to go along with her five ground balls and two draw controls in the win.
Against Wofford, the Florida native scored another six goals, including the 100th of her career to become the first Musketeer to reach that milestone. She also contributed an assist, a ground ball and three draw controls.
The Musketeers look to bounce back from Sunday's loss with a matchup on Wednesday night against Louisville. First draw is set for 6:00 p.m. at Corcoran Field.
