
Men's Golf Posts Runner-Up Finish at BIG EAST Championships

Xavier recorded its highest team finish since 2016
OKATIE, S.C. - Xavier men's golf finished second at the BIG EAST Championships on Monday afternoon. The three-day tournament was held at Callawassie Country Club.
The runner-up finish is the highest finish for the Musketeers at the BIG EAST Championships since 2016 (also finished second). Xavier now has three top-three finishes at the BIG EAST Championships (joined the conference in 2013-14).
The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 858 (-6), finishing 11 strokes behind No. 46 Marquette (847, -17). The two teams were the only squads to hit under par at the tournament.
Individually, Kellen Dean paced the Musketeers with a seventh-place finish (214, -2). He was one of only two freshman golfers inside the top-10 of the individual standings (Gavin Gerch from Creighton finished tied for fourth place).
Carson Bellish also recorded a top-10 finish for the Musketeers, placing tied for 10th (215, -1). All five Xavier golfer finished inside the top-16.
UConn's Alex Heard took home medalist honors with a score of 205 (-11), finishing six strokes ahead of Georgetown's Blake Barnes.
