Cayse Morgan Named BIG EAST Golfer of the Week

NEW YORK - Cayse Morgan was named the BIG EAST Golfer of the Week on Thursday. The freshman golfer earns the honors for the third time this season.

Morgan led the Musketeers to a first-place finish at the Peoples Golf Championship hosted by Western Carolina on March 14. The three-day tournament was played at Sea Island Resort.

The Musketeers posted a 54-hole score of 838 (-14) in a field of 21 teams, finishing two strokes ahead of Western Carolina (840, -12). Xavier has now posted 10, top-three finishes over the last two seasons with six tournament titles. The Musketeers have finished first or second in their last five tournaments this season.

Morgan took home medalist honors with a score of 202 (-11) in a field of 123 golfers, one stroke ahead of Samford's Gavin Isbell (203, -10). He now has three tournament titles this season and four top-10 finishes.

Xavier returns to action at the Keene Trace Collegiate at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Ky., on March 24.
