Kyle Smith Places Fourth at The Muirfield Shootout

DUBLIN, Ohio - Xavier wrapped up action at The Muirfield Shootout on Monday evening. The tournament was hosted by Miami (Ohio) at The Country Club at Muirfield Village.

Xavier placed fifth in a field of 13 teams with a 36-hole score of 582 (+6). Kent State won the tournament with a score of 579 (+3), while Michigan State placed second (580, +4).

Kyle Smith paced the Musketeers with a fourth-place finish in a field of 81 golfers, recording a 36-hole score of 144 (E). He tied for fourth place with six other golfers. Smith now has six career top-10 finishes.

Eastern Michigan's Charlie Box and Miami's Liam Nelson took home medalist honors with scores of 141 (-3).

Xavier returns to action at the BIG EAST Championships on May 2-4. The tournament is being played at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club in Hardeeville, S.C.
