Men's Golf Earns 2025-26 BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award

NEW YORK - Xavier men's golf earned the 2025-26 BIG EAST Team Academic Excellence Award on Tuesday.

The Musketeers posted a 3.768 team grade point average, the highest team GPA by a men's golf program in the conference.

Xavier was one of only three schools to win a BIG EAST Championship and earn a team academic excellence award, joining St. John's (baseball) and Georgetown (men's swimming).

Brian Arlinghaus, the 2026 BIG EAST Coach of the Year, led the Musketeers to a conference title on May 4 - the program's ninth conference title in program history and first since 2005.

ABOUT THE AWARD

The conference recognized one team in each sport, with the annual awards highlighting the outstanding academic achievements of BIG EAST student-athletes during the 2025-26 academic year.
The awards are presented annually to the team in each conference-sponsored sport that records the highest cumulative grade-point average. Team GPAs are calculated using every student-athlete listed on an institution's official roster at the conclusion of the championship segment in each sport.
St. John's and Butler paced the conference with five Team Academic Excellence Awards apiece. Georgetown earned three awards, while Creighton, DePaul and Villanova collected two each. Providence, Seton Hall, UConn and Xavier each received one award.
