Brian Grant has his name stamped throughout the Xavier record book, leaving his mark as one of Xavier's all-time greats. He ranks as Xavier's 11th all-time leading scorer with 1,719 points. Grant also led the team in rebounding in each of his four years. Along with Tyrone Hill, Grant is the only Musketeer to do so. Grant, now ranked fourth, finished his career ranked third on the career rebounding list with 1,080 and set the all-time mark for offensive efficiency by posting the highest field goal percentages for a season (.654) and a career (.594).

Grant's single-game highs reflect his dominant skills. He pumped in 34 points at Detroit Mercy in 1993 and tore down 18 rebounds at East Tennessee State in 1994. Grant finished his career with a 14.7 scoring average and 9.2 rebounding average at XU.

While Grant posted impressive numbers on offense, he also distinguished himself with stellar defensive play. Grant is tied for fifth all-time on XU's blocked shot list with 127 career swats. He trails former teammate Aaron Williams (NJ Nets), who racked up 197 and David West (New Orleans Hornets) who tallied 228.

Grant also helped the Musketeers to three postseason appearances during his time at Xavier. XU twice made it to the NCAA Tournament (`91 and `93) and had one NIT appearance (`94) during Grant's career.

Grant collected Midwestern Collegiate Conference Player-of-the-Year honors during the `92-'93 and `93-'94 seasons. He was twice named to the Second Team All-Midwest (1992-93 and 1993-94) by Basketball Weekly. Entering his senior year, Grant was honored by Street & Smith's as a Third Team All-American. Exceptional postseason play earned Grant a spot on the 1993 MCC All-Tournament Team.

In 1994 Grant was selected in the NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings with the eighth pick overall, the highest-ever selection among all former XU players. He spent three successful seasons in Sacramento before signing a long-term free agent contract with the Portland Trailblazers. He enjoyed a tremendous 1998-99 season, including being named the winner of the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award for his outstanding community service and charity work.
