Dan Froehle certainly left his mark on the Xavier baseball record book after coming to XU from Fairfield High School. Coaches and teammates alike said he could "flat out punish a ball" and he still is among the top 10 in seven major Musketeer baseball offensive categories. One of the most impressive highlights of his career came on March 29, 1986 when he hit five home runs in a doubleheader against Dayton.
Froehle, a two-time All-MCC selection, has the third highest batting average ever during a career in Xavier history with a .376 (227-603) mark from 1982-86. Froehle ranks third all-time for career homers (38) and is tied for first all-time in triples (18). Froehle is number three on the list of most runs scored in a career with 181, fifth in RBIs with 168, seventh on the career hits list with 227, seventh on the walks list with 119 and is tied for seventh in career stolen bases with 58.
Froehle is number one on the all-time list of highest batting average for a single-season at .456, going 63-of- 138 the 1983 as a sophomore. That same year he ranked 11th in the nation and was the top sophomore in batting average and pounded out an .870 slugging percentage.Â
