The Musketeers took an early lead in the match when Dan Limburg (Ft. Wayne, Ind./Canterbury) flicked a ball past the Bonnie keeper from the left side at 7:40 into the match. Alex Schick (Bowling Green, Ky./Greenwood) set up the goal by sending the ball downfield to Limburg.
The Bonnies leveled the score at 1-all three minutes later with a goal from Joe Baiata that was assisted by Justin Ross.
Xavier went ahead for good just over seven minutes into the second half when Sam Fiore (Dayton, Ohio/Wayne) headed in a corner kick from Rob Bakker (The Netherlands).
Less than four minutes later, Xavier scored on another corner kick. Tiest Sondaal (The Netherlands) served this one into the goal mouth. Limburg played a header back across the front of the goal where Andy Crouch (Washington, Ind./Washington) headed it into the net.
Crouch struck again two minutes later when converted off a pass from Sondaal on a free kick. Bakker then added a goal on a penalty kick at the 24:09 mark in the second half.
Two minutes later Xavier scored again as Limburg headed in a Bakker corner kick with 22:43 left to play.
The six goals is the most for Xavier since the Musketeers scored a half dozen in a shutout win over St. Joseph?s on Oct. 15, 2000 at Corcoran Field. XU outshot the Bonnies 18-5 on Sunday.
Xavier heads to Philadelphia next weekend for a pair of Atlantic 10 matches against Temple and St. Joseph?s.
