Women's Basketball Wins Second Straight A-10 Title

PHILADELPHIA --- The Xavier women?s basketball team (No. 12 AP/No. 11 USA Today/ESPN/WBCA) repeated as Atlantic 10 Tournament Champions in convincing fashion with an 81-56 win over George Washington in the finals on Monday.

Reetta Piipari (Kotka, Finland/Minster (Ohio)) tied a career high with 20 points in the game and set an A-10 Championship game record with six threes.

Xavier (28-2) jumped out early on the Colonials, scoring the first nine points of the game en route to opening up a 27-8 lead in the game. XU never let lead slip to less than 14 the rest of the way.

Jennifer Phillips (Elida, Ohio/Elida), the A-10 Player of the Year, was named Most Outstanding Player of the Championship after scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. She was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Piipari and Taru Tuukkanen (Helsinki, Finland), who scored 16 points in the game.

The Musketeers will practice leading up to Selection Sunday on March 11.
