David West Named to Playboy Preseason All-America Team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. --- Junior forward/center David West (Garner, N.C./Garner) has been named to the annual preseason 10-member Playboy All-America ?Dream Team.? The complete 10-member list will be announced this fall, a list that will also include St. Joseph?s senior guard Marvin O?Connor.

West and all of the member?s of Playboy?s preseason All-America team flew to Chicago this past weekend for a photo shoot, awards dinner and a youth basketball clinic.

West was the 2000-01 Atlantic 10 Player-of-the-Year and an Associated Press Honorable Mention All-American last season as an XU sophomore. He led the Musketeers with 17.8 points and an Atlantic 10-best 10.9 rebounds per game while shooting 55.1 percent from the field. West led Xavier and was second in the nation with 20 ?double-doubles? in scoring-rebounding, including 18 in the last 23 games. The A-10 coaches also placed West, who blocked a school record 61 shots, on the conference?s All-Defensive Team.
