Streibich Leads Men's Golf To Second Place Finish

Streibich carded a 67 in Tuesday?s final round to finish the tournament with a 54-hole total of 8-under 208. He tied with two other golfers for second place, nine shots behind medallist Jeff Overton of Indiana.
Xavier, rated 26th in the nation in latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, shot a 290 as team on Tuesday, giving XU a 16-under 848 on the 7,028-yard, Par 72 Skybrook Golf Course.
Overton?s three-round total of 199 helped Indiana overcome the Musketeers during the final round, allowing the Hoosiers to win the tournament with a team score of 22-under 842. Furman was third with an 856.
Senior Miles Maillet tied for fifth in the tournament with a 54-hole score of 6-under 210. Freshman Jason Kokrak finished the tournament at 4-under 212 to tie for eighth.
Junior Neal Grusczynski tied for 21st with a 2-over 218. Sophomore Andy Pope, the 2003 Atlantic 10 Championship runner-up, tied for 26th with a 219 while playing as an individual.
Senior Matt Makinson rounded out the scoring for Xavier with a 228 to finish in 52nd place.
Xavier shot a school record 275 in the first round of the tournament and posted a 36-hole school record of 558 in Monday?s action.
Overton and the Hoosiers will be among the 21 teams the Musketeers will host in the Xavier Provident Invitational next Monday and Tuesday. The Tournament will be held on the Grizzly Tournament Course at the Golf Center at Kings Island.
