Men's Golf Finishes Soggy Opening Round

As the weather turned for the worst late in XU’s round, so did the Musketeer scores. The four Musketeers whose scores counted on Thursday shot a combined 8-over on the last four holes of the par 72 course.
Junior Miles Maillet posted a 3-over 75 to lead Xavier on Thursday. Freshman Andy Pope and senior Bryon Harger both finished at 5-over 77. Senior Tim Smith finished with a 7-over 79 to round out the scorers.
Xavier’s fifth golfer, Neal Grusczynski, finished with an 8-over 80 despite hitting a team-high four birdies in his round.
The top 10 finishers among the 27 teams in the West Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship. With an early tee time, and due to the weather delays, most teams were still early in their rounds when Xavier finished.
