Men's Golf Completes Season at NCAAs

XU fired a final round 312 to finish the weekend in 23rd place with a score of 940.
The NCAA Tournament appearance capped a season in which Xavier tied a school record with three tournament wins and saw several school records broken.
Xavier's freshmen posted the best scores for the Musketeers in the NCAA Tournament. John Streibich shot a 3-over 75 to finish the tournament at 17-over 233. Classmate Jason Kokrak posted a final round of 4-over 76 to end with a score of 235.
Senior Miles Maillet ended his career with a 4-over 76, putting him at 238 for the 54-holtes.
After two great days, sophomore Andy Pope struggled in the final round, firing an 89 to finish the tournament with a 240. Junior Neal Grusczynski rounded out the Xavier scoring with a 253 for the tournament.
Maillet ends his career as Xavier’s career scoring leader, with a four-year average of 73.64, beating out Steven Dixon (1995-99), who held the record with 73.76.
Maillet just missed beating his season scoring record, finishing the year with an average of 72.82. He set the school record of 72.76 as a sophomore.
Streibich and Kokrak both bested the school freshman record of 74.34 that was set two years ago by Neal Grusczynski. Streibich will go in the books as the record holder with an average of 73.24 this year, while Korkak finished the season averaging 73.68 strokes per round.
As a team, the Musketeers averaged 291.55 strokes, shattering the school record of 295.37 that was set in 2001-02.
