ST. THOMAS, V.I. - Senior forward Joei Clyburn poured in a career-high 23 points and the Musketeers overcame a 15-point first half deficit in defeating Auburn by a 75-64 score in the 2006 Paradise Jam in St. Thomas, V.I. With the win, XU improves to 4-0 on the season while Auburn slips to 3-1.
Clyburn's 23 came on 9-of-15 shooting and she also dished-out a team-high four assists, swatted three shots and had two steals. Freshman forward Amber Harris scored 19 points, 15 coming in the second half. Harris also blocked four shots and hauled in eight boards.

XU battled back from 15 down in the first half to trail Auburn by only three points, 32-29, at the half. XU would not let up in the early stages of the second half and took a 34-32 lead at the 18:10 mark on a Clyburn fastbreak lay-up.
The Musketeers would take the lead for good, 39-37, when senior guard Suntana Granderson drilled her only 3-point field goal of the game. Granderson's long-ball sparked an 11-0 XU run over the next 3:40 and the Musketeers never relinquished control of the game.
XU shot just 48 percent from the free throw line in the contest but was a solid 56.6 percent (30-of-53) from the field including a scintillating 70.8 percent (17-of-24) in the second half.
The Musketeers lost the battle of the boards 43-to-31 as the Tigers held a 25-to-9 advantage on the offensive glass.
XU jumped out to an 8-4 lead when Michele Miller converted on a put-back 3:30 into the contest. Auburn caught fire though and charged out to a 19-0 run and seized a 23-8 lead with 10:20 left in the first session when KeKe Carrier hit a lay-up.
XU would not lay down though and whittled the Tiger lead down to nine points, 29-20, after Miller forced Auburn into a turnover and took it coast to coast.
Xavier would clamp down defensively, allowing Auburn to score only three points in the final 6:30 and went into the locker room down 32-29 on the strength of a 9-2 run.
Xavier will return to action on Friday, November 24 when the team takes on Western Michigan in day two action of the Paradise Jam. Game time is set for 4:30 AST, 3:30 eastern.
