Roberts Stays Hot as Xavier Falls in Series Finale

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Junior Drew Roberts continued his hot start at the plate in the final game of Xavier's series with East Tennessee State. The Musketeers could not rebound from a five-run seventh inning by ETSU and fell 9-4. XU is now 1-2 on the young season, while the Buccaneers improve to 4-3 on the year.
Roberts finished the day 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. Junior Dan Hayden also had a 2-for-4 day at the dish and added Xavier's only home run on the afternoon. Adam Lipski also recorded a 2-for-4 day to round out the Musketeers with multiple hits in the game.
Sophomore Michael Lucas pitched a solid six innings of work allowing only two earned runs on five hits and struck out seven batters.
Xavier will take a couple days off before traveling to Louisville to take on the Cardinals this coming Wednesday. Game time is set for 3:00 pm and you can catch all of the action live with GameTracker at www.GOXAVIER.com.
