CINCINNATI - In the first meeting as members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, Xavier could not find a way to get past Saint Louis. Despite freshman Neil Lindgren recording two home runs in the contest, XU was downed 10-2. The Musketeers now stand at 10-25 on the season and are 2-8 in A-10 play, while the Billikens improve to 18-14 overall and 7-3 in conference action.
Lindgren opened the game by taking the second pitch of the game over the left field fence to give Xavier the early 1-0 lead. SLU would respond by tying the game in the top of the second, plating the go ahead run in the top of the third and topping that with two more runs in the top of the fourth to take the lead for good.
Lindgren finished the game 3-for-4 with his second career multi-homerun game. The freshman drove in and scored the only two runs of the afternoon for the blue and white and added a single in the eighth. Adam Lipski, Chris Lozan and Matt Waskerwitz each had two hits in the game to round out the nine hits by the Musketeers. Lozan was the only other player to rope an extra base hit besides Lindgren as he notched a double in the fourth inning.
The two teams will get back to action tomorrow at Hayden Field. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
