
Women's Golf Remains in Sixth Place at CAA Championship

PINEHURST, N.C. - Freshman Lindsay Cornell carded a six-over par 77 to lead the Xavier University women's golf team on day two of the 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship on the par 71, 5,954-yard Pinehurst No. 6. XU carded a 323 (+39) in the second round for a two-day total of 659 (+91). The Musketeers trail fifth-place Richmond by 11 strokes.
Georgia State is atop the team leaderboard with a two-day total of 628 (+60) including a 27-over par 311 on day two. GSU's Lisbeth Meincke leads all individuals with an 8-over par 150.
Cornell's round of 77 (+6) moved her up two spots to ninth on the individual leaderboard and she is just five strokes out of the top five. Sophomore Diana Torry turned in a 79 (+8) on Saturday to move to 19-over par (161) for the tournament.
Kara Manis cut four strokes off of her first round score for an 82 (+11) and has a 36-hole total of 168 (+26). Sophomore Erin Gore fired an 85 (+14) to push her two-day score to 171 (+29). Colette Ryan completed the Xavier lineup with a 98 (+27) and is at 56-over par (198) after two rounds.
The Musketeers will close out the CAA Championship on Easter Sunday at 11:55 a.m. Xavier will be paired with fourth-place James Madison and fifth-place Richmond for the final round.
