Xavier Falls to George Washington in A-10 Action

ARLINGTON, Va. - In Atlantic 10 Conference action on Friday afternoon, Xavier fell to host George Washington 5-2 at Barcroft Park. The Musketeers could only muster two hits in the contest and committed four errors in the defeat. With the loss, XU drops to 10-20 on the season and 2-5 in A-10 play, while George Washington moves to 9-20 and currently sit in a tie with Xavier at 2-5 in conference action.
Senior Sean Brewer provided the only offense for the Musketeers on the afternoon. Brewer finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate with XU's only two hits and also drove in the only two runs to finish with two RBIs and drew a walk.
Xavier's Mike Creevy took the loss for the Musketeers in a solid outing. Creevy went seven innings and surrendered seven hits, which plated one earned run with six strikeouts. GW's Derrick Lutz picked up the win as he went the distance allowing no earned runs and striking out nine.
The two teams will match-up for game two of the series tomorrow at noon. Xavier's Michael Lucas (0-5, 5.29 ERA) will take the mound for the blue and white.
