Men's Golf Climbs Three Spots at NCAA Central Regional

CHARDON, Ohio - The Xavier University men's golf team battled through the rain and wind of the par-71, 7,173-yard Sand Ridge Golf Club for a second consecutive day at the NCAA Central Regional with day two producing a slightly better result as the Musketeers carded a 19-over-par 303. XU, which came into the day in 23rd place, is now at 42-over-par (610) in 20th place.
Oklahoma State leads the 27-team field with a two-round total of 565 (-3) while OSU's Zack Robinson is atop the individual leaderboard at 5-under-par (137)
Jason Kokrak turned in the best individual performance of the day for Xavier with a 72 (+1) which included a birdie on the par-4, No. 9 to end the round. Kokrak is now at 6-over-par (148) and is tied for 39th place.
Senior Andy Pope recovered from a sluggish first round to shoot a 73 (+2) to move to 10-over-par 152. John Streibich was 1-over-par through his first nine holes but he struggled on the front nine for a 7-over-par 78 and a two-day total of 155 (+13).
Andy Connell carded an 80 (+9) to move to 14-over-par (156) while freshman Mike Beausejour also turned in a round 80 (+9) for a two-day score of 158 (+16).
Xavier will close out play at the regional on Sunday as the Musketeers will tee off from No. 10 at 12:12 p.m. The Musketeers will be paired with Siena and Colorado for the final round.
