Sophomore Mary Beth McKenna opened the day with a three-over par 75, but admittedly ran out of gas on the back nine of her second 18 to card an 81, good enough for a tie at 28th place (12-over).
Lamar's Therese Nillson fired the lowest first round score, an even-par 72. However, rounds of 69 by her teammate Linda Persson and 70 by Coastal Carolina's Ann Maness would propel them both to the top of the leaderboard, respectively.

Senior Diana Torry and freshman Rachel Levi finished the day two shots behind McKenna in a tie for 34th place (14-over). Junior Lindsay Cornell fired a 79 and 84 to end the day 19-over in a tie for 52nd. Freshman Audrey Fellmeth was a stroke behind in a tie for 54th.
Xavier Individuals Erin Gore (Sr.) and Lindsay Steiner (So.) tied for 77th place overall (176, +32), and Colette Ryan (Jr.) rounded out play for the Musketeers at 184, 40-over par in 79th place. Erin Gore withdrew from play for Sunday due to a back injury.
