Jason Kokrak Qualifies for 2007 U.S. Open

COLUMBUS - Jason Kokrak has qualified for the 2007 U.S. Open. Kokrak, a four-year letter-winner on the Xavier University men's golf team, earned one of four spots in a field of 70 on Monday in a sectional qualifier at the par 72, 7,140 yard Double Eagle Club in Columbus, Ohio. Kokrak shot rounds of 69 and 68 to tie for the best 36-hole score of the day.
The 2007 U.S. Open will be held on June 14-17 at the Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pa. 2007 will mark the eighth time Oakmont has hosted the Open as Oakmont was also the site in 1927, '35, '53, '62, '73, 83, and '94. U.S. Open champions at Oakmont include Ernie Els, Johnny Miller, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan and Tommy Armour.
Kokrak was recently named to the PING All-Midwest Region Team for the second straight year. He finished his career as XU's all-time leader with a 71.67 scoring average and fired a team-best 18 sub par rounds during the 2006-07 season.
