CINCINNATI --- The visiting Dayton Flyer women’s soccer team shut out the Xavier Musketeers 3-0 on Sunday at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.
Dayton used one eight-minute stretch in the first half to do all of the scoring for the entire match. Jerica DeWolfe scored first at 12:03 into the first half, kicking the ball just out of the outstretched arms of Xavier junior goalkeeper Kelly Farrell. Kim Sacher added a second UD goal at 19:12 as she connected from 30 yards out. Kelly Blumenschein scored the third and final goal at 19:58, swiping a loose ball in front of the goal and punching it into the net.
The Flyers outshot Xavier 25-9 for the match, including a lopsided 18-2 in the first half.
Deanna Waintraub and Lisa Rodgers combined for the shutout, while recording three saves.
The loss drops Xavier to 0-2-1 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and 1-9-1 overall, while Dayton remains undefeated in the Atlantic 10 at 2-0-1 and goes to 8-3-1 overall.
Xavier hits the road for its next two matches, playing Friday at Massachusetts and next Sunday at Rhode Island.
