Xavier has now won 15 straight games at Cintas Center, the second-longest streak at its on-campus arena. XU also has won 29 of its last 30 at home, and is now 111-16 (87.4 percent) all-time at Cintas Center, including 57-6 (90.5 percent) against non-conference competition.
The 48 first-half points by Xavier are the most it has scored in a half since pouring in 50 points in the second half of its victory against Purdue in the second round of the 2008 NCAA Tournament at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. (3-22-08).
XU held Ohio University to 34.5 percent (20-for-58) shooting from the field, marking the sixth time in eight games that the Musketeers have held their opponent under 40 percent shooting. For the season, XU opponents are shooting just 35.7 percent from the field.
Xavier shot a sizzling 69.2 percent (18-for-26) from the field in the first half of tonight’s game. The last time an XU team shot better in a half was 78.9 percent (15-for-19) in the second half of its 87-67 win against then No. 1-ranked Saint Joseph’s during the Atlantic 10 Tournament at UD Arena (3-11-04). Xavier finished that game shooting an amazing 71.1 percent from the field.
XU recorded a season-high 12 blocks. The previous high was 11 against IPFW (1-14-08). The 12 blocks are the most by Xavier since swatting 12 shots, including a school-record eight by David West, against Coastal Carolina (11-17-01).
