Xavier Players
B.J. Raymond
On his big shooting night
“Off the court I stayed with it and got some extra shots. Thank goodness I was able to hit some today.”
“We’re probably the worst 7-0 team in the country. On our end of the floor [offense] we need to get better. We didn’t have good body language. We have to get better every day. Right now we’re not playing to our potential. But we have great upside.”
“My shot preparation has been off the last couple of games. But I had the hot hand tonight. I went back to the drawing board on my mechanics.”
Danté Jackson
“They [Auburn] did a real good job [pressuring]. They were sending two guys at me. Eight turnovers is unacceptable for my position. I was making some mental mistakes, but it was also them [Auburn]. It’s lack of concentration. I have to get better.”
Xavier Head Coach Sean Miller
On his 100th win
“I’m glad you can say that. B.J. Raymond, 7-for-9 on threes, six rebounds, 5-for-6 free throws, and only two turnovers. It’s because of him we won. He played hard every possession. He’s played some point guard for us, he’s lost weight, and worked extremely hard to give himself a shot.”
“It feels good to be 7-0. I’m honored to be the coach at Xavier. The way I look at it, I’ve won 100 games for Xavier. It’s really special to be the coach here.”
“B.J. had arguably one of the best games I’ve ever seen a Xavier player play, at least in my eight seasons here. There’s no player that deserves what he’s getting more than him. He’s just getting better and more comfortable.”
“Auburn played hard. I followed Quantez Robertson and I’m happy for him.”
“I want to credit Auburn. Those guys, they just kept fighting and trapping. In the last 12 minutes they scored 40 points.”
“Although Danté Jackson had eight turnovers, I thought he played well. I’ll say this about Danté: he played hard. He’ll keep working. I loved to see his defense.”
“When you’re on offense you have to remember to run down court [on defense]. I watched us jog a couple of times in the second half. That’s unacceptable.”
On closing out the win
“When you have a big lead and they have nothing to lose, and are playing as hard as Auburn did, you have to keep playing. We have to be so much better; that will be addressed.”
“Tonight we made 13 threes. In large part, that’s why we won. I thought Danté [Jackson] was comfortable shooting the ball. Brad Redford hit a big three. Kenny Frease hit a big three.”
