
Women's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Saint Louis

CINCINNATI – The Xavier women’s soccer team fell to the Billikens of Saint Louis University 4-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference action Friday at the Xavier Soccer Complex. With the loss, the Musketeers fall to 2-10-1 overall and 1-3-1 in the conference. Saint Louis holds a 6-5-2 record and a 3-1-1 conference mark with the win.
The Billikens got on the board early and never looked back. SLU forward Christina Brown finished an Ashley Brazill shot off the post at the 5:26 mark for the first goal of the match. Brazill found the goal in the 49th minute as she drilled home a cross from Kelly Waeckerle. The Billikens scored twice more in the second frame for the 4-0 win.
Xavier sophomore forward Jessica Brooks provided an offensive spark for the Musketeers. Brooks led the Musketeers with four shots including one shot on goal. Senior Brittany Green took the Musketeers second shot on goal. Lauren Nutini, Justine Hartigan, and Alayna Washington each took a shot.
XU senior goalkeeper Kelly Farrell posted three saves in just over 58 minutes of action. Freshman Jennifer Perri earned three saves as well. SLU goalkeeper Amber Zdanovec posted two saves.
Xavier will return to action Sunday as they play host to Charlotte at 11 a.m.
