CINCINNATI - Senior Becky Clark led the men’s and women’s Xavier track & field teams with a win in the one-mile run Saturday at the All-Ohio Championships, hosted by the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio. Three school-record performances were recorded during the event.
Clark ran a hundredth of a second over five minutes, besting a field of 25 runners to set a season-best time. Fellow senior Luke Beuerlein also had a great performance in the mile with his fourth-place, 4:18.20 time.
Sophomore Jory DelCecato continued his assault on the field event school records by setting new marks in the shot put and 35-pound weight throw. His shot put throw of 46’02” ½ (14.08m) and weight throw of 44’07” (13.59m) topped his own previous records.
Freshman Micayla McGinn established the women’s high jump record with her 4’11” ¾ leap. Senior Clint Womack and sophomore Ben Nathan both ran well in the 800 with their times of 1:55.81 and 1:56.91, respectively. Junior Bethany Moore led Xavier in the women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.71.
Personal-best times were set by the Xavier 5,000 meter runners as freshman Matt Book and sophomores Joe Ryan and Matt Riley. Ryan lead the group at 15:54.11, followed by Book (16:09.25) and Riley (16:15.35). Sophomore Tommy Kauffmann continues to excel in long distances, finishing fifth in the 3,000 meter run at 8:42.16.
