McKenna Leads XU at Cowgirl Classic

PHOENIX, Ariz - The Xavier women's golf team finished fourteenth at the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic Tuesday, besting Old Dominion by twelve strokes (974, +110). The Musketeers were led by junior standout Mary Beth McKenna on the 6,108 yard, par-72 course.
McKenna shot rounds of 81-81-79 to finish tied for 49th at 25-over par (241). Sophomore Audrey Fellmeth was not far behind her, finishing at 29-over in a tie for 58th place after rounds of 79-84-82. Senior Lindsay Cornell concluded the tournament in a tie for 69th with rounds of 85-81-82 (+32), just ahead of junior Lindsay Steiner who fired a series of 81-81-87 to finish at 35-over in a tie for 72nd. Sophomore Rachel Levi rounded out the top-five for XU in a tie for 75th after shooting 83-88-80 (251, +35) over the two-day event.
The Musketeers will have Easter Break off from tournament play, returning to action the following weekend for the conclusion of their season at the 2009 CAA Conference Championships in Pine Mountain, Ga. The event will take place over three days, from April 17-19.
