Play Suspended at Illini Spring Classic, XU in 11th

URBANA, Ill. - The Xavier men's golf team ended the first day of competition at the Illini Spring Classic in 11th place. Second round play had to be suspended due to weather and will resume Sunday at 9 a.m. Junior Chris Burger leads the way for the Musketeers.
As a team, XU shot a 30-over-par 319 in the first round. Burger is tied for 18th after carding a first round of 4-over-par 76. Burger was the only Musketeer not to tee off for his second round and will play a full 18 Sunday.
Senior Peter O'Neill shot a 6-over-par 78 to tie for 32nd place. O'Neill started his second round and was even through two holes. Junior Sebastian MacLean was the next score for the Musketeers with an 9-over-par 81. MacLean was 1-under through the first two holes of his second round.
Herbert Day and Yuki Kato tied for 60th with first round scores of 12-over-par 84. Day and Kato had only played one hole before the suspension of play.
Akron sits in first place with a team score of 5-over-par 294. Akron's Charlie Bull and Michigan State's Gareth Blease are the leaders with 1-under-par 71s.
