Muskteers Have Strong Showing at Oliver Nikoloff Invitational

CINCINNATI - The Xavier Musketeers competed at the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational at the University of Cincinnati and earned 11th place on the men's side and ninth on the women's side. The men earned 23 points, while the women were able to nab 24.
Junior Nick Williams had one of the highest finishes of any Musketeer on the day with a second place finish in the 200 meter dash. Williams competed with 33 other runners and ran a 21.55 for eight points.
Classmate Emily Tyler finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.51 for five points. Fellow hurdler Evan Betts was able to earn a point for the men with an eighth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.23.
Senior Tommy Kauffmann was able to add six points to the men's score with a third place finish in the 1,500 meters. Kauffmann rounded the track in 3:57.52. Senior Caitlin Thomas earned second in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 11:07.72 for eight points. The men's steeplechase saw rookie Tom Ohlman finish third with a time of 9:29.54 for third place.
The women's 4x100 meter relay team of Brittani Peltz, Annie Lennon, Lauryn Dugan and Tyler came in fifth with a time of 48.86, for four points.
Several Musketeers were able to earn spots in the top 10 of their respective events. Tyler and Peltz came in ninth and tenth in the 100 meter dash with times of 12.54 and 12.62, respectively. Kurtis Polacek and Brian Armstrong also earned ninth and tenth in the 100 meters with times of 11.33 and 11.35.
Rachel Clark came in ninth in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:42.28, narrowly missing the chance to earn points for XU. Hank Geer came in tenth in the same distance with a time of 4:01.39.
In the field events, Nia Williams, Micayla McGinn and Isaiah Glover competed. McGinn came in eight in the high jump with a mark of 4-10.25. Williams posted a 12th place finish in the long jump with a leap of 15-09.50. Glover competed in both the long jump (11th place) and triple jump (sixth place) with jumps of 20-06.50 and 41-04.50, respectively.
