Musketeers Sit in Eighth After First Two Rounds

Worley, Idaho- The Xavier women's golf team completed its first two rounds of the season today at the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational. The Musketeers are lead by sophomore Ariel McNair who carded a 10-over-par (80-74) and is currently tied for 16th out of the 116 competitors.
As a team the Musketeers are alone in eighth place in a field of 22 schools and are only five strokes off the nearest opponent. Close behind McNair is junior Breanna Patz who was leading the team after her first round 76, but after her second round 80, fell below McNair. Patz currently sits tied for 30th.
Senior Michelle Winkler is one stroke behind Patz with 12-over-par (78-79) and is tied for 39th in the field. Sophomores Kristin Tan and Christine Cash were strong in their first two rounds both shooting better in the second round. Tan is tied for 53rd with a 15-over-par (81-78) and Cash is tied for 59th with a 16-over par (81-79).
After the first two rounds Washington State University leads the tournament with a 605 (+29) and Caitlin McCleary of Seattle University leads the tournament with a 4-under-par performance.
The final day of competition will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. Pacific.
