
Xavier Sweeps Quinnipiac in First Match of Maryland Invite

The Xavier Musketeers swept the Quinnipiac Bearcats in straight sets 25-11, 25-13, 25-14 Friday afternoon in the first match of the Maryland Invite. Several Musketeers had season-best and career-best performances.With the win the Musketeers now move to 3-1 on the season while the Bearcats drop to 0-4. XU dominated several statistical categories including attack percentage (XU - .337, QU - .038) and total blocks (XU 7, QU 0).
Junior Amé White had a breakout performance at the net, draining a career high six kills and a career best two solo blocks, for a total of 2.5 total blocks. White was accurate at the net with a .600 hitting percentage (6-0-10). Senior Michelle Matia led the team in attack percentage at .625 (5-0-8). Junior Kaleigh Rougraff led the team in kills with seven, which is also a career high.
A-10 Rookie of the Week Aubree Smith tied her career high in assists with 30, while also getting under seven digs and getting three kills. Junior Elizabeth Lucich was able to get two service aces on the match, a career high. Junior Stephanie Vorherr was able to get under a season best 13 digs.
The Musketeers will face a double header on Saturday, playing the VCU Rams at 10 a.m., before wrapping up the tournament against the host Maryland Terrapins at 7 p.m. Follow the action on GameTracker and GoXavier.com.
