Musketeers Finish Palmetto Intercollegiate in 12th Place

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C.- Shane Crutchfield earned her first career under par round as the Musketeers finished in 12th place in the 2012 Palmetto Intercollegiate. Xavier had a team score of 52-over-par 916 (307-303-306). Crutchfield ended the tournament tied for 32nd place with a final score of 227 (+11).
Although the Musketeers finished in a season low 12th place, they did shoot a team-low 303 in the second round and a season tournament-low 916. Crutchfield fired a two-under-par 70 in the second round, the lowest on Xavier this season. Senior Breanna Patz was three strokes behind with a final score of 230 (+14).
Following her CAA Golfer of the Week Award, Ariel McNair carded a 230 and was tied for 50th along with teammate Patz. McNair’s first round 74 tied her season-low set in the previous weekend. Abby Smith carded a 231 (+15) finishing the tournament tied for 54th. Junior Christine Cash ended tied for 73rd with a final score of 237 (+21).
Campbell, ranked 35th in the nation, held the lead the entire tournament finishing with a team score of 866 (+2). Maria Jose Benavides of Campbell was the medalist after her three-under-par performance.
The Palmetto Intercollegiate concluded the Musketeer’s fall season. Xavier will get back on the course February 18-19 for the Le Triomphe Collegiate Invitational in Broussard, La. Stay tuned to GoXavier.com for the latest news and updates of women’s golf.
