
The Musketeers Finish Second Round of Rio Verde Invite

RIO VERDE, Ariz- The Xavier women’s golf team concluded day two of the 2012 Rio Verde Invitational in 13th place. The Musketeers shot a 317 on Saturday to give them a score of 638 (+70). Sophomore Kristin Tan shot a team-low 77 to give her a tournament total of 164 (+22).
Although the Musketeers shot four strokes better than Friday, they find themselves lower on the leader board. Xavier is in striking distance of four schools. Only five strokes separate XU from the ninth place team.
Sophomore Christine Cash is playing consistently as she shot a 78 in the second round. Cash is tied for 31st place with a score of 157 (+15). Senior Michelle Winkler is tied for 38th place with a score of 158 (76-82). Junior Breanna Patz fired a pair of 80’s in the first two days and is tied for 48th place as she is 18-over-par.
Akron remains in first place after the second round with a score of 603 (+35) and Kelsey Welber of Missouri State leads the field with a score of 146 (75-71) four-over-par.
