Musketeers Conclude Pinehurst Invite in 12th

PINEHURST, N.C. – The Xavier men’s golf team concluded the Pinehurst Invitational in 12th place today with a team score of 299-329-298=926 (+78). The Musketeers fired their best score in the third round shooting a 298 (+14) while Korey Ward registered a team-low 70 (-1) in the final round.
Ward quickly found himself three-over-par, but an eagle on the second hole and two birdies on holes six and eight gave him his eighth below-par round of the season. Ward and Yuki Kato each tied for 22nd place with a final score of 226 (+14).
Senior Aaron Siekmann finished tied for 57th place with a total score of 236 (+24). Connor Tendall fired a 76-86-76=238 (+26) ending the tournament in a tie for 65th. Matt Gerard posted his lowest round of the tournament Tuesday, shooting an 80 (+9). Gerard finished tied for 88th with a final score of 249 (+36).
The 43rd ranked Ball State Cardinals took home the title with a team score of 885 (+37) while Tyler Merkel of Ball State carded a tournament-low 214 (+2).
