DAYTONA BEACH, FL. - Junior Shane Crutchfield shot an even-par in the final round of the 2014 LPGA Xavier Invitational to lead the Musketeers to a sixth place finish with a team score of 931. Crutchfield, along with freshman Lindsey Murray, also collected a top-10 individual finish.
Crutchfield finished the tournament with a team best score of 225 (79-74-72), a scored that tied for eighth best among the the more than 70 participants. Cruthfield's final round was lowest of the day for Sunday, matched only by the individual champion from Daytona State, Tiffany Chan (67-66-72/205) and Katie Rice of tournament champions Morehead State.
The Musketeers were also bolstered by a strong showing from sophomore Rachel Johnson, who finished the weekend tied for 23rd with a score of 231 (73-78-80). Senior Abigail Smith, who led the Musketeers on the second day of competition with an even-par 72, finished with a final tally of 235 (83-72-80).
Freshman Hanna Lee also scored for the Musketeers with a score of 240 (82-79-79). Sophomore Grace Howie also competed for the Musketeer team, finishing the tournament at 247 (83-82-82).
Freshman Lindsey Murray, who shot the tournament low round for the Musketeers on day one when she finished two-under par with a 70. Murray ended the weekend with a top-10 finish, tying for eighth with a score of 225 (70-78-77).
Freshman Nina Kulkarni also competed as an individual, turning in her best round of the tournament on Sunday to finish with a score of 254 (87-85-80).
The Musketeers next travel to Kiawah Island, S.C. for the Palmetto Intercollegiate on Oct. 26-28 to close out Xavier's fall season.
