CINCINNATI - CINCO Family Financial Center Credit Union is proud to announce the sponsorship of a new award for faculty and staff at Xavier University. CINCO has been a part of the Xavier University community since 1987 and The Innovative Educator of the Year Award is a continued effort by CINCO to support university faculty and students.
"We wanted to develop a new annual program to support Xavier faculty in a meaningful way," said Sandra Fenstermacher, AVP/Director of the CINCO Family Financial Center Credit Union. "We believe this award truly reflects our commitment to the university. At CINCO, our tagline is `we are here for you' and we want to be there for the Xavier community. We hope this award will empower faculty to achieve their goals and enhance the student learning experience, just as we at CINCO help individuals to achieve their financial goals."
The CINCO Innovative Educator of the Year Award will be presented at the December 6, 2014 Xavier men's basketball game versus Alabama. The winner will receive $1000.00 and two additional finalists will receive $500.00 each.
Nominations are now open and will be accepted through the end of the day on October 1, 2014. Any faculty who have been nominated will be notified by email on October 2. Those nominated will be asked to submit an essay of up to 300 words (or a video submission of up to 3 minutes) which outlines what distinguishes them as an innovative educator. This will include any specific evidence of creative, effective innovation in teaching. A committee review by CINCO management will determine the winners.
Stephen Yandell, Ph.D, Faculty Director, Center for Teaching Excellence, Dr. Doug Olberding, Chair, Department of Sports Studies and Sandra Richtermeyer, Ph.D, CPA, CMA, Associate Dean of the Williams College of Business, were instrumental in designing the award. Professor Yandell is enthusiastic about the creation of this award. "This award emphasizes an aspect of education that we have not recognized enough in the past. We were pleased to collaborate with CINCO to establish the criteria for the award. We hope that the Xavier community will support the award by nominating worthy instructors. It will also be terrific for the winners to be recognized at the men's basketball game in December."
