Edmond Sumner Named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week, Jalen Reynolds Earns Honor Roll Accolade

CINCINNATI – Two Xavier men's basketball players have been honored by the BIG EAST Conference this week. Freshman Edmond Sumner has been named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and junior Jalen Reynolds earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Sumner scored 13 points to go with five assists and a career-high six rebounds in the win over Auburn on Saturday. Reynolds led Xavier with a season-high 18 points in the Auburn win, while shooting 7-of-9 from the field.

Sumner is the fourth Musketeer to earn BIG EAST honors already this season. Reynolds, sophomore Trevon Bluiett and junior Myles Davis had each earned spots at least one time this season on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll prior to this week.

Xavier, 11-0 and off to the best start in school history, plays its final non-conference game on Tuesday night at Wake Forest in the Skip Prosser Classic.

Xavier is ranked No. 6 in this week's AP and USA Today Coaches Polls, setting new school records with both rankings.
