Glover, Musketeers Top Golden Eagles on ‘Field Trip Day’

Senior forward posted her second career double-double in the win
CINCINNATI - Senior Briana Glover posted her second career double-double, scoring 21 points to go along with 10 rebounds as the Musketeers defeated Tennessee Tech, 64-47 at Cintas Center. Thursday's game was 'Field Trip Day' with over 3,000 elementary students in attendance.
Xavier has won four consecutive games, improving to 5-1 on the year. Tennessee Tech dropped 2-4 with the loss.
Glover was 5-for-11 from the floor and 8-for-8 from the foul line. The forward was also 3-for-4 from behind the arc.
Raeshaun Gaffney joined Glover in double figures with 13 points. The junior guard was 6-for-7 from the charity stripe as the Musketeers finished 18-for-23 from the foul line. Leah Schaefer added eight points on 4-for-6 shooting.
Xavier held a 50-38 advantage on the glass, paced by Glover's 10 rebounds. Aliyah Zantt added eight rebounds. Xavier also scored a season-high 21 points off of turnovers and recorded a season-high 10 steals. Marquia Turner and Zantt led Xavier with three steals each.
The Musketeers never trailed in the contest and led 19-18 at the end of the first period. Xavier opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to take its first double-figure lead, 29-18, with 4:36 left before intermission. The Musketeer defense held the Golden Eagles to 0-for-9 shooting for the first 5:40 of the second period.
Xavier outscored Tennessee Tech, 17-6, in the second period to build their largest lead of the half, 36-24, at intermission. The Musketeers held a 28-16 advantage on the glass, paced by Imani Partlow's five rebounds. Briana Glover led all scorers with 10 points at the half.
The Musketeers built a 46-32 lead with 2:20 left in the third period before back-to-back Golden Eagle three pointers made the score 46-38 at the end of the quarter.
Glover hit a three pointer on the first possession of the fourth period to regain Xavier's double-figure lead, 49-38. The Musketeers never relinquished their double-figure lead as the held on for the 64-47 victory. Xavier went 5-for-6 from the foul line in the final minute of play.
Samaria Howard led Tennessee Tech with 14 points, while Alliyah Smith added a team-high nine rebounds to go with nine points.
The Musketeers return to action on Sunday, Dec. 6 against Middle Tennessee State. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
