
Women's Golf Takes Fourth at FGCU Invitational

ESTERO, Fla. – Grace Howie and Shane Crutchfield both placed in the top-eight overall as Xavier women’s golf finished fourth at the 14-team FGCU Invitational on Sunday at Stoneybrook Golf Club.
Howie turned in a 78 (+6) a day after posting a career-low round of 71 to solidify a fifth-place finish. The sophomore was 10-over for the weekend and recorded 37 pars, which tied for third-most in the field.
Crutchfield finished 6-over on Sunday, securing a tie for eighth overall with a three-day score of 228 (+12). Her 41 pars over three days ranked second amongst the field.
Competing as an individual, freshman Hanna Lee shot a team-best 75 on Sunday and vaulted up 10 spots on the leaderboard to lock up a 16th place finish (233, +17).
Senior Abigail Smith wound up tied for 20th overall, carding an 81 on Sunday and finishing 19-over for the weekend.
Sophomore Rachel Johnson and freshman Lindsey Murray recorded identical scores of 80 in their third rounds, as Johnson placed in a tie for 26th (238, +22) and Murray tied for 37th (242, +26).
Nina Kulkarni, also competing as an individual, finished tied for 61st overall after a day three 82 (+10) and a 32-over weekend.
Toledo’s Sathika Ruenreong and Daytona State’s Tiffany Chan tied for medalist honors with 5-over tournament scores of 221. Elon took the team title with a score of 901 (+37), while Toledo and Daytona State finished just ahead of XU in a tie for second at 918 (+54)
Xavier led the tournament, finishing 13-over and averaging 3.22 on par 3 holes.
The Musketeers will return to action at the three-day Rio Verde Invitational from March 13-15 in Rio Verde, Ariz.
