Women's Golf Finishes Third at Murray State Invitational

MURRAY, Ky. - Xavier women's golf had four individuals inside the top-25 on the overall leaderboard, taking third-place as a team (+65, 929) at the Murray State Invitational on Sunday at Miller Memorial Course.

The Musketeers finished nine shots back of hosting Morehead State and 20 shots back of overall leader Cincinnati, moving up a spot after landing in fourth after day one of competition. As a team, Xavier recorded 158 pars -- second-most in the 11 team field.

Valentina Herrera of UC and Whitney Robertson tied for medalist honors, shooting 8-over scores of 224 for the tournament.

Hanna Lee led XU, tying for ninth and shooting a 3-over score of 75 on day three. She finished 14-over and just six shots back of first. Her six birdies tied for fourth-most in the field over the three rounds.

Senior Abby Smith and junior Shane Crutchfield also placed in the top-20, finishing just two strokes apart. Smith was 8-over in the third round, finishing in 14th while Crutchfield fired a 78 to finish in a tie for 18th.

Grace Howie (+21, t-24th) and Rachel Johnson (+22, t-32nd) rounded out the scoring for XU.

Playing as an individual, Lindsey Murray led the Musketeers with a 1-over final round of 73 and vaulted into a tie for 24th after shooting 83 and 81 to start the tournament.

Nina Kulkarni carded an 81 to finish in a tie for 45th overall.
