Zachary Polk Named BIG EAST Field Athlete of the Week

Sophomore set the school record in the long jump last weekend
NEW YORK - Sophomore Zachary Polk was named the BIG EAST Field Athlete of Week on Monday following a record-breaking performance over the weekend at the Gladstein Invitational.

Polk won the long jump with a distance of 7.23m (23' 8.75") on his second jump of the day, breaking the school record that he previously set during his freshman campaign. His distance in the long jump is the best mark by a BIG EAST athlete this season. He also posted a time of 22.50 in the 200-meter dash to place seventh in the event.

The All-BIG EAST performer earns the weekly awards for the third time in his career, previously picking up the honors on Feb. 3, 2015 and May 5, 2015.

Polk and the Musketeers return to action at the Thundering Herd Invitational on Jan. 29-30 hosted by Marshall University.Â
