Caroline Gaertner plays part in three new school records

CLEVELAND - After six racing events on both the men's and the women's side, Xavier women's swimming has three new school records. On the men's side, the Musketeers collected an individual win in the meet that features 14 women's squads and nine men's teams.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Xavier's women started off the day with a new school record in the 200 free relay. Emily Conners, Paxtyn Drew, Tianna Vozar and Caroline Gaertner took second with a time of 1:33.17 which shaved over half a second off the previous record of 1:33.74.
Caroline Gaertner followed that up with a school-record breaking performance in the 50 free, touching the wall in 23.32 to break the previous mark of 23.56 held by Paxtyn Drew. Emily Conners' time of 23.57 moves her standing up to third in XU records.
The women closed the event with another relay record, with Paxtyn Drew, Titterton, Gaertner and Conners touching the wall in 3:47.32.
Xavier's women are in third place of 14 teams with 287 points.

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS

Xavier's men opened the meet by taking second in the 200 free relay.
Alex Wolfred collected the first win of the meet for the Musketeers in the 500 free with a time of 4:34.66.
Tony Miller tied for second in the 50 free with a time of 21.05.
Xavier stands in second place, trailing only host Cleveland State with 367 points.

TOMORROW'S EVENTS

Day two of the CSU Magnus Cup begins with prelims at 9:00 a.m. tomorrow. The top 40 women and 30 men in each event will advance to the finals, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
Day two's events include: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 100 Backstroke and 800 Freestyle Relay as well as women's three meter diving and men's one meter diving.
