Swimming Sends Seven to AT&T Winter Nationals

CINCINNATI - For a fifth-straight year, multiple Musketeer swimmers qualified to travel to USA Swimming's AT&T Winter Nationals. Xavier will be represented by seven in Atlanta, competing in nine events against the top swimmers in the United States.

THE COMPETITORS

Chase Baldwin - competing in the 200 back
David Bunnell - competing in the 100 fly
Knox Hitt - competing in the 50 free, 100 fly. This marks Hitt's second trip to the Winter Nationals, traveling to Austin, Texas in 2012 to compete in the 100 fly as a freshman. Hitt finished 56th with a time of 50.97.
Sam Johanns - competing in the 100 back
Michael Pettinichi - competing in the 100 breast and 200 breast
Nathan Runyon - competing in the 100 back and 200 back
Rodrigo Suriano - competing in the 50 free. This marks his second trip to the AT&T Winter Nationals, also competing at the event in 2013 in Knoxville, Tenn. Suriano took part in the 200 free, 400 free and 800 free relays.

LAST YEAR

Xavier sent a pair to the event last year, Luke Johanns and Rob Van Kirk.

Luke Johanns competed the 50 meter free finishing in 23.87 to place 84th, and in the 100 meter free, finishing in 53.30.

Van Kirk competed in the 200 meter breast, finishing in 2:26.05 to place 54th.

Former Xavier Musketeer Armando Moss also competed in the 50 meter free, finishing in 24.20.

UP NEXT

The entire squad will next be in action on Jan. 6, 2017, when Xavier travels to Indianapolis to face IUPUI.
